VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT

Vision Statement
Focusing on high academic excellence, Parkview School District will provide a safe environment, within quality facilities, where students reach their full potential and become productive citizens.
Mission Statement
The Parkview School District, in partnership with family and community, will graduate individuals equipped to be responsible, productive citizens in our changing world by providing quality instruction and a progressive curriculum in a secure and challenging environment which will motivate all students to achieve their greatest potential.
Beliefs
All students can learn a core curriculum to mastery given adequate time, resources, appropriate instruction, regular attendance and self-motivation.
Successful school experiences enhance positive student self-concept and positive self-concept enhances achievement.
Teachers need education in various teaching strategies and learning styles and need to apply this knowledge in meeting the needs of all students.
Students need to learn how to work cooperatively.
The community, the Board of Education, parents/guardians, staff and administration will be supportive so that teachers and students can be accountable for learning.
Exit Outcomes
The learner will:
• Solve problems, think critically and make decisions.
• Demonstrate behaviors that indicate successful communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate behaviors which indicate an awareness of the liberal arts.
• Demonstrate behaviors of a self-directed learner.
• Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively.
• Demonstrate mastery of basic academic skills.
• Effectively use technology.
• Demonstrate behaviors which indicate respect and stewardship for self, others and the environment.
Statement of Implementation
To implement the K-12 Outcome Based Curriculum and achieve the district's mission, each school will be provided with these necessary resources: adequate staff (certified and non-certified), sufficient monies (grants, etc.), staff as trainers, additional volunteers, and additional corrective and enrichment materials.
In addition, restructuring will also be required. This will include on-going staff development and alignment for both certified and non-certified staff, flexible scheduling and grouping, manageable class size, team teaching, including Exceptional Education Needs staff, implementation planning time, continuous curriculum review and revision, changes in grading and reporting to parents, time opportunities and technology to provide for corrective and extension instruction, parent and community education, and an end to split classes at the elementary level.
Statement of Accountability
Students, teachers, support staff, administration, Board of Education, parents, and community members must fulfill their separate and integrated responsibilities in order to achieve this mission. Teachers are accountable to teach so that students can learn and demonstrate core curriculum objectives which lead to achievement of district defined exit outcomes. Administration is accountable to provide support and foster an educational environment conducive to the achievement of said outcomes.
