Classroom Rules
Within the classroom, each teacher and their students develop, post, and sign one set of classroom rules which support the school's Little VIKES rules of being safe, responsible and respectful.
Practice Behaviors
We spend the first few weeks practicing the expected behaviors in all environments of school. If students are struggling to remember the rules, staff supportively reviews the expectations and has them practice the correct behavior to experience success.
ClassDojo
We also utilize the ClassDojo to appropriately recognize positive and negative behaviors that students display within the classroom. ClassDojo is designed to give children many opportunities throughout their day to demonstrate desired behaviors. Class Dojo PBIS helps Parkview Elementary School set consistent expectations across all school locations, like "Respectful" and "Responsible." Teachers can add these expectations to their classes in ClassDojo and then give speci?c, positive feedback to students. Teachers can give neutral feedback in ClassDojo to guide students toward classroom expectations. Students may receive redirects and are given opportunities to correct their behaviors. School wide incentives and rewards are utilized. Students who reach the "Outstanding" level will have their names entered into a daily drawing to win various items, including extra time with staff.
Parents can easily get involved in our PBIS program using ClassDojo. Parents can see their child’s feedback in real-time, message privately with teachers, and also see photos and videos from the classroom. Parents can connect using any iOS/Android device or computer. Please talk to your child’s classroom teacher for more information.
