Parkview Junior/Senior High School Counseling
Scheduling Resources
Dear Parkview Families,
We are excited to begin the scheduling process for the 2026 to 2027 school year. This is an important time for students to reflect on their goals, explore new opportunities, and thoughtfully plan their academic path for next year and beyond.
Our scheduling process is designed to help students make informed decisions while ensuring they stay on track for graduation. Parkview High School operates on a ten block schedule with 75 minute periods and alternating A and B days. This structure allows students to plan long term and take a variety of courses throughout the year. Graduation requires 26 total credits across required subject areas and electives.
Throughout this process, students will use several tools to support their planning. They will reference the Course Handbook, which includes class descriptions, grade level offerings, credits, prerequisites, and fees. They will also use the Course Selection Guide to understand whether a class is semester or year long, offered in even or odd years, transcripted for credit, or eligible for advanced standing.
Students will use Xello to build and revise their four year plan, explore careers and colleges, and align their course selections with future goals. As scheduling progresses, they will review the Master Schedule and complete a planning template to map out next year’s courses. Students will finalize their selections through Skyward Arena Scheduling, where they will add, adjust, and submit their courses.
We encourage families to review course selections carefully. Students will bring home a planning sheet and transcript summary to review graduation requirements and remaining credits. Please take time to discuss your child’s interests, academic goals, and postsecondary plans. A guardian signature is required before final submission.
Our goal is to ensure that every student builds a schedule that challenges them, supports their interests, and keeps them on track for graduation. If you have any questions, please contact the high school office or your child’s counselor. We look forward to partnering with you in this important process.
Sincerely,
Ms. Chelsea Burger
